Who is kev in shameless
Kevin "Kev" Ball born Bart is a main character. Kevin is generally nice to most people, and can usually be persuaded to give Frank drinks on credit or cash his disability checks for him. However, that doesn't mean he loves living near the Gallaghers all the time. Fiona often convinces Veronica to help in some way, such as allowing the youngest Gallagher to use their bathroom, but V finds it easier to keep these things from him.
During Season 1 , he can often be heard uttering the phrase "fucking Gallaghers". Kev and Veronica are known for having the most loving and committed relationship on the show as well as their particularly adventurous sex life.
He loves being a father, as seen when he was happy to hold his son Dominick and was sadden that he couldn't raise him full time. However, he was even more happy to have daughters and doesn't waste time, in bonding with them as well as his visiting his son.
Unlike most characters, he has a good heart as seen when he worried about his foster child Ethel and when he comes to the aid of his friends, even Frank.
He shows this side occasionally, such as after crippling a neighbor and accidentally causing his death. While Kev took part in throwing Frank off a bridge, he felt guilt when seeing him survive and being in a wheelchair and was the only person that felt that way. He is even seen making amends with him by voicing relief to see him on his feet and bringing him to the hospital after he has liver problems.
Kev also appreciated Frank giving him an ice pack for his recovery. In the fourth episode of the first season , Casey Casden , Kev told a flirty girl at the bar that he was getting married as a way to get her to leave him alone. Unfortunately, Frank overheard and thought Kev was serious. Ignoring Kev's panicked attempts to shut him up, Frank announced the "happy news" to the bar, including Veronica's mother Carol. A worried Kev then spent the next few hours getting extremely drunk and talking to an ecstatic Carol.
Hearing how much Veronica loved him and perhaps realizing the strength of his own feelings, Kev decided to drunkenly propose to V instead of admitting the mistake. During the party at the Gallaghers' house and the congratulations, Fiona noticed Kev looking withdrawn and unhappy outside. After she questioned him jokingly, he stated that he was already married before walking away.
Kevin and Lip Gallagher ran a successful side business selling beer, cigarettes, marijuana, soda, candy, and taking book out of a run down ice cream truck.
At the end of the first episode, Kevin became a neighborhood hero when due to help from his foster kid Ethel he was forced to burn most of the marijuana plants he had been growing in the basement of the Alibi Room. When foster daughter Ethel and her son Jonah left Kevin was heartbroken and often thought about her and how much he wished he had children of his own with wife Veronica.
Kev bore witness to the return of Peggy Gallagher and is amused with watching her torment Frank. However, he is surprised when she nearly shoots Shelia but misses. Kev is in a cast and uses crutches during this season because actor Steve Howey had "snapped" his Achilles tendon prior to filming. In Season 3 episode 2 Kevin's wife Sheryl makes an appearance with her son Kyle who may not be his not yet mentioned during the episode.
Veronica stays over at the Gallaghers' house after sometime later in the same day. Kevin tries to cope with the reality as Fiona get upset about the whole thing and confronts Kevin about not picking Veronica. Kevin had gotten divorce paper around this time. Kevin chooses Veronica and his wife was nothing more than a memory but he's only trying to get to know his kid and be his father and Fiona and Veronica start to laugh possibly due to accepting Kevin's apology.
Kev soon learns that he is not, in fact, Kyle's father. Sheryl walks in the Gallaghers' house and sees Kev, V, and the Gallaghers laughing. She then asks if they are laughing about her, and Fiona tells her they are. Sheryl then angrily reveals that her son is really her sister's son, not Kevin's, and calls Kevin a "stupid sack of shit. Veronica forces Sheryl to sign the divorce papers.
After Sheryl does it, she flees the house and drives off alone leaving Kyle behind. Kyle asked if he could call his real mom instead of going with his aunt. Kev continues to have sex with Veronica in an attempt to have a child. He and Veronica decide to give his sperm to Carol in order to have a baby after trying to find a donor and finding out Veronica can't have a baby.
In Simple Pleasures , Veronica is revealed to be pregnant with Kevin's baby, surprising the two parents since Veronica was said to be close to infertile. Kevin agrees and is then stated as the new owner of The Alibi Room. When dealing with money problems, he allows Mickey to have Svetlana and her friends service the patrons.
This also saves Kev from being attacked by Alan's gang by letting them be with the women. Later on, Kev, Kermit, and Tommy are invited to Sheila's home by Frank's oldest daughter Sammi as a way to get him the bar in his recovery.
This brought a smile to Frank's face. Near the finale, Kev becomes the father of a son named Dominick with Carol who will raise the child herself since she was lonely, despite Kev's sadness at not being with his son. However, he moves past his depression when Veronica gives birth to twin girls Amy and Jemma whom he becomes the proud father of.
Kev and Veronica have difficulties becoming parents. On the other, she desires a life for herself beyond the South Side of Chicago.
In the end, she gets what she wants, moving on from the Gallagher family to follow her own dreams. Lip often uses his smarts to make money for his family.
These plans often backfire, leading to consequences. Despite Lip being exceptional, he still falls victim to hereditary issues. Lip has a fatherly instinct in him from very early on in the show. This part of him seems to want to right the wrongs of his own father, Frank. This dynamic leads to Ian feeling like the black sheep of the family. Moreover, Ian is a gay man living in an oftentimes heteronormative community. Ian struggles with bipolar disorder, which he inherits from his mother Monica Chloe Webb.
This causes him to make rash decisions. He deserts, steals a helicopter, and goes on the lam from military police. Later in the series, he blows up a van. For being one of the younger children, she is fairly level-headed. She even has some affection towards her father despite his problems. He didn't know that Frank was listening and might take his words seriously, and definitely didn't expect Frank to announce the "happy news" to the entire bar.
To make matters worse, Veronica's mother Carol was at the Alibi that day, so she heard Frank's proclamation and rejoiced over the news of her daughter's impending engagement. Veronica was thrilled by the idea of Kevin proposing as well, so instead of just explaining the misunderstanding, he popped the question. It wasn't the heartfelt, romantic proposal Veronica deserved, and it definitely wasn't what Kevin had wanted. When the Gallagher's threw a party to celebrate Kevin and Veronica's engagement, Fiona noticed that Kevin didn't seem to share Veronica's excitement and was looking slightly withdrawn and uncomfortable.
When she pressed him for an explanation, Kevin admitted that his engagement might get a bit complicated because he was already secretly married. Viewers weren't told how long the couple had dated prior to the start of Shameless, but based on how close a couple Kev and V were, it seemed like they'd been together for a significant period of time.
It's terrible that Kevin lied to her about being married for so long, and that he didn't tell Veronica the truth before asking her to be his wife. We eventually learned that Kevin lied to Veronica throughout their relationship about his secret wife, but outside of that, fans were led to assume that the couple knew everything there was to know about each other.
They were an incredibly close and open duo, and spent the majority of every day by each other's side. Then, in the series' second season, Veronica questioned Kevin about his various recent unexplained absences and found out that he'd been taking reading classes in secret for weeks.
Somehow, even though she spent every day with Kevin, she never noticed that her boyfriend wasn't even able to read. For some reason, Kevin was afraid to tell V the truth, and she didn't pay enough attention to him to recognize it herself. Kev and V spent most of Shameless ' fourth season trying to have a child and start a family together, and after their efforts continuously failed, they went to a doctor to try to figure out why.
Veronica's solution to their issue was for Kevin to have a baby with her mother, Carol. The whole storyline was pretty uncomfortable in the classic Shameless way. Shortly after Carol revealed that she was pregnant with Kevin's child, a miracle happened and Veronica beat the odds to become pregnant herself.
She and Kevin were shocked to find out they'd actually be having twins well, triplets before the twins absorbed one of the babies in the womb , and Veronica started to worry about how they could possibly take care of so many new kids at once. When Carol gave birth to Dominic Fisher-Ball, she decided she was no longer willing to hand him over to Veronica. Kevin has always dreamed of having a large family and was thrilled by the idea of having a son, but Veronica convinced him to just let Carol take Dominic away.
No compromise was made, and Kevin was left without the son he desperately wanted. Despite their initial refusal to become anything like their father, the Gallagher kids have all adopted Frank's street smarts and become willing to bend the law or use others to get what they want. It seems like they're not the only mischievous people in the South Side, though, because Kevin is also always breaking the law to get ahead.
Kevin has a solid and steady job at the Alibi, but in an attempt to make more money for his family, he frequently takes on additional part-time jobs which could land him behind bars if he gets caught.
He's sold illegal substances in an ice cream truck, he's allowed Mickey to rent his wife and her friends in the Alibi, and he's done a variety of other questionable things. Kevin's motives are often pure, but each of these side jobs could have taken him away from his loved ones for years.
Even though Kevin and Veronica spent years trying to start a family, when the twins were finally born, they realized they may not have been as ready to be parents as they thought. Kevin constantly worried about being a negative influence on them, and his obsession with trying to be the perfect dad led to him accidentally neglecting Veronica and her needs.
Veronica practically begged for Kevin to give her some attention, and when he repeatedly failed to do so, she briefly put an end to their relationship. It was the first real fight Kev and V ever had with each other, and Veronica's response to it was to just call it quits and take a break from her family. Even though Veronica was the one who asked for a break, she found herself unable to be with anyone other than Kevin.
