Who is edward lekganyane
All the ministers were appointed and ordained by him, and were responsible to him. Although Lekganyane preached basic Christianity, faith and divine healing played a very important role in the church. The precondition for the use of any manner of healing was by confession of sins and faith in God.
Baptism threefold immersion in the river and Holy Communion, which was served at Moria, were both observed as sacraments in the ZCC.
Today most of his followers wear their badges proudly every day. His sons later introduced the different motifs on the badge later. Apart from the badge, members of the ZCC partook in polygamy — seen as a God-created mode of life and a more acceptable principle compared to divorce. Lekganyane is seen by his followers as the Black Messiah who has the gifts of healing, prophesy, contact with the ancestors, and to purify body and soul by the use of water.
His health began to deteriorate in the mid-forties, and at the time of his death Lekganyane was a well-to-do chief of a financially stable ZCC.
In the presence of his brothers, the elders and his advocate, he presented them with his fifth and favourite son, Joseph , as successor and the future bishop. He died in May , and was buried at his home in Moria on 1 June The date has since been sanctified by the ZCC.
According to tradition one year of mourning had to pass before the new leader could be presented to the 80 followers. He adopted a dove as its symbol. This surprisingly great number of people you see in front of him, is those he has delivered only through prayer. They do not take medicine, they have stopped doing so along with drinking and smoking things that pollute the temple of God, the human body.
Do not be misled by critics and deniers of the truth. Come and test Lekganyane and see if your problems will be too much for him. Seeing is believing. Where Zion is based, the leader is with a large crowd of people from all around Orlando, from the south to the east all the way to the west, all the way the Brass Band praises the Jehovah of the Makgotla with Zion hymns and those of the kingdom of Jesus.
Lekganyane of the Zion of Mamabolo held a very dignified funeral service for his departed follower, Ophen Ntsimane in Luka, one of the villages in Phokeng, Rustenburg. Although the leader had arrived with a huge brass band and delegation, accompanied by the Gauteng and Tshwaneng congregations, he did not wear his special regalia. Because he had been housed in the home of Bro.
Josiah Makgale, some distance away from the home of the departed Ntsimane where the delegation had been welcomed , the chief of the Zion kingdom travelled a bit of a distance in a Cadillac. When church started, the Thabakgolo delegation praised Jehovah with Zion hymns accompanied by a multitude of people- old and young.
The chief sat in his car with Bros. Letsoalo driver , J. Motepe and J. After they got out there was a prayer after which God spoke to the crowd about a prophesy. The service was opened by Bro. Gabriel Diale of Phokeng who works in Johannesburg. He never got lazy to visit us in Thobolong, Phudungwane and Thabakgone. He was a man who took the word of God very seriously; he would never shy away from going to different congregations to teach about the word of God and about tithing.
He served God very well and he saw it fit to take him to heaven John Our duty as his brothers in Christ is to show his children love; love which if we do not have, we will be nothing nothing more than cockroaches Revelations When delivering the main, short reading, Supt. Edward E. Lekganyane spoke of how his main duty in the villages of the South was to teach people the word and to show them the true path of God.
The shows of life in the dark are: People murder each other in various ways, they also kill each other using witchcraft and ruin their health by drinking alcohol. All these are ways despised by God, who created humanity. They are things that disturb and anger God. If they have not been baptized, it is their responsibility because they would have seen the power of prayer. In a loud voice Lekganyane spoke of the usual teaching—love.
Preacher N. He said that his father, the founder of this church, promised us that he would be the one to come and show us the way to heaven. Lekganyane was in Eastwood near Pretoria on Sunday August 10th. There he gave Commented [MSOG1]: Not sure it makes sense, it was his last teaching of the 12 Sundays, delivering to the people of the Gauteng and Tshwane townships not very legible.
Some are only focused on drinking alcohol, stabbing each other with knives while others are preoccupied with bewitching each other to death. They do not know that to God, these are great transgressions.
God does not want them to do these things. The leader spoke honestly that laying of fingers on the forehead is not really baptism. It is not the baptism instructed by Jesus and it is not spoken of in the Bible.
Lekganyane went back to the holy mountains, the mountain Zion Thaba -Sione , the site where Jehovah instructed in the beginning, to be sought from and praised at. He concluded by inviting the masses to attend the annual Zion gathering in Moria on September 7. The entire ceremony was conducted by the leader and chief of Zion, Edward E. Apparently on Saturday morning, accompanied by high priests, the man of God rose to the mountain Zion to pray for the annual ceremony.
The congregations of Pretoria and neighbouring villages had arrived in the morning, Johannesburg and its neighbours in the early afternoon in PUTCO buses. After the announcement was made that Johannesburg had arrived, the chief of Zion went on with a brass band to welcome the masses with hymns of praise. In the evening the brass band descended the mountain to praise Jehovah; in the open space between a school and the temple all that could be heard was singing and Sotho praises with all kinds of drums and string instruments.
On Sunday morning there was prayer, Bro. We attest to the greatness of Lekganyane who performs miracles in front of our eyes and we should stick by him—respect him, obey him and work to praise him and he will work with his God. Shortly after that joyous noise could be heard before everyone gathered to hear the opening service and the message for the New Year. Michael Letsoalo said as he invited the crowd to pray. I Motepe with a short but great speech, praising the greatness of Edward Lekganyane who came to earth to free the people of God the black Africans from the grasps of darkness and ignorance about the path to God and his truth , although many are still too preoccupied with Western wisdom, education, medicine, and hating and patronizing each other to see the greatness of God through Lekganyane.
It is not a place where people gather to play or talk about earthly issues of organisations such as Congress or Communist parties. Those are not things that we want our people to concern themselves with.
What is important is to fear God by avoiding all form of sin—what is meant by sin is drinking alcohol, smoking all sorts of cigarettes and using traditional medicine. This is why God would abandon such a person. He becomes deaf to the cries and pleas of such a sinner. He then announced that among the white people in attendance, there was the manager of P. C who had taken the time to come and see the beautiful house of the owner of Zion. Mashigo, and Chiloane, and 25 white people among them the commissioner of Pietersburg.
There were 25 buses from P. C and cars and vans from other countries. It is estimated that the number of people who attended was the highest ever. Cows had been slaughtered for the New Year. A high number of people were baptised. The masses left on Sunday with great happiness when the day ended. Lekganyane about how a believer should live, in order to please God and live happily.
As usual, when giving thanks for his welcome and seeing that the congregation had some troubles, the leader explained that the most important thing in life is to fear God. I am the way, the truth and the life. The chief of Zion emphasised greatly on the issue of praying for one another. He said that the mark of believers is loving, praying for and sympathizing with each other. If you say you are believers but laugh or ridicule one of you when he is spiritually troubled or worried, then you are not believers.
He asserted greatly the truth that the greatest enemy of someone who is devoted to God is the devil and that is why believers should save themselves by holding onto prayer.
Concerning sins that tear believers away from God, leader Lekganyane has been taught that when a person is baptized in the river, God instils in them two things—the knowledge of good and evil. From thereon, every time they sin their conscience alerts them and they sin knowing well that they are doing evil which upsets God and the angels. The marriage is prepared for by a paying of bridewealth.
It is not right for a proper and right Church to have a woman who is unknown to the parents and who no bridewealth has been paid for. He wished for this habit to end among members of his church. The leader was paved the way for by Bro. Wilson Leseka, the head of all priests in the Zion of Mamabolo. The servant to the chief of Zion also gave a great teaching which he finished off with a Setswana proverb—kgomo go tsoswa e itekang for one to be helped, they need to be seen to be trying.
One of the servants who came with Zion Lekganyane was Bro. Dichabe of Alexandra. At the Sophiatown meeting, the Zion was welcomed by preacher A. Marobela, H. Mamabolo and a gathering. The leader listened for a while, while the congregation praised God with some hymns. The rain that started when the leader was speaking, stopped immediately when he finished. This sermon was in Plantation Square in Orlando at 3pm. From where the leader had arrived, the Owner of Zion led a large crowd of people, conducting the ZCC band in a very special manner.
When opening the proceedings, Bro Motswaledi of the Orlando church shared with the people how he had been born again in the church of the leader Lekganyane. He says that he had been very ill, and doctors had given up hope—both English and traditional.
When he gave up, out of worry his wife had heard of a church which heals through prayer only. He was prayed for and subsequently healed. It is after that that he gave in to the church and was baptized in He sang the praises of the leader. Michael Letswalo also explained briefly how the leader Lekganyane had helped some white people of Tshwane from their troubles by praying for them with his hands under the instruction of Jesus and they were healed.
The great thing is for people to learn to pray seriously to God to be be delivered to the ways of God by being baptized truthfully and properly, to live through the ways of Jesus and to safeguard the laws of God.
In this church our greatest job is to help those who are in distress—to pray for their illnesses no matter how serious they may be, by laying our hands on them in the way of Jesus Christ. After they have been healed they should dedicate themselves to following God, since they will have seen his greatness and the strength of prayer. It is these teachings that prevent those who have problems from seeking this free help.
In this church, God can talk to people. When people are sick, we tell God, who gives us instruction on how to deal with illnesses. If God did not answer, people will not be healed. These are the times when people should dedicate their days and nights to praying for God. People should pray to live. The church of ZCC will grow from country to country and in the end there will only be one church and one leadership of God. The people should do all this is necessary to prepare themselves to enter the kingdom of God.
Before change comes, all the evil ways and habits which have captured the hearts of the people—witchcraft, hooliganism, thieving, jealousy, bongaka, killings using knives and revolvers, and all other types of sin, should be stopped completely. This leadership or governance will never merge with these things that are hated by God. Until , black South Africans were systematically denied any right to vote by the forces of colonialism, segregation and apartheid.
Lack of representation and equality, in turn, led to systematic oppression and injustice. But decades before that — in — a large group of black South Africans voted for their leaders in a free and fair election — an election that has been totally forgotten. On June 1, , less than a year after the Nationalist Party assumed power and began to implement its apartheid scheme, somewhere between a third and a quarter of the members of the Zion Christian Church ZCC descended on their spiritual capital, Zion City Moria.
They voted to install Edward Lekganyane as the successor to his father, Engenas Lekganyane , who had founded the church in Although the choice of Edward as successor caused a permanent split in the ZCC, the vote for him was a pivotal, wise and successful one. Edward not only enjoyed the backing of the majority of the membership, he also showed true genius during his tenure as bishop.
Under his guidance, membership skyrocketed and finances boomed. It emphasised emotional forms of worship featuring faith healing, dancing, prophesying, singing, and speaking in tongues, especially in raucous all night services. He is seen here at his modest Orange Farm home.
This led to senior magistrate Daniel Thulare summoning the respected clergyman to court. The DNA results will be presented in court next month.
